Your new Young Soles shoes, boots, sandals or sneakers are special. Please care for them with the same fondness with which they were designed and made.

Our footwear is made using carefully selected materials, including beautifully soft and supple natural leathers. With a little regular care, you can help keep your Young Soles looking their best for longer.

Natural leather
Our soft natural leathers are chosen for their supple feel and are not covered with a plastic coating. Natural variations in colour and texture are part of the leather’s character, and the surface may mark more readily than heavily coated leather.

Before first wear, we recommend applying a good-quality leather protector suitable for children’s footwear. Always test any product on a small, hidden area first, as protectors and creams may alter the leather’s colour.

To clean your leather shoes, allow any mud to dry before gently brushing it away. Wipe surface dirt with a soft, slightly damp cloth and leave the shoes to air-dry naturally.

Once dry, apply a small amount of neutral or colour-matched leather cream with a soft cloth, following the care product’s instructions. Gently buff the leather with a clean, soft cloth to finish.

Do not soak, machine wash or tumble dry. If the shoes become wet, stuff them loosely with plain paper to help retain their shape and allow them to dry naturally, away from radiators, hairdryers and direct heat.

Patent leather
To keep patent leather looking its best, wipe away surface dirt with a soft, damp cloth. Apply a product specifically designed for patent leather, following its instructions, and allow it to dry before gently buffing with a clean, soft cloth to restore its shine.

Suede and nubuck
Use a suede brush to gently remove dust and dried dirt, brushing repeatedly in the same direction. A suede eraser or cleaning block can be used on more stubborn marks.

Before first wear, apply a non-toxic protector suitable for suede or nubuck. This can help protect the material and make it easier to clean. Always test the product on a small, hidden area first, as it may affect the colour.

Avoid using water or ordinary leather creams on suede and nubuck, and never machine wash or tumble dry.

Sandals
Our leather sandals are not designed to be worn in water and should never be submerged, soaked or machine washed. Water can damage the leather, lining, adhesives and other components, so please remove sandals before paddling, swimming or playing in water.

If they become wet, allow them to dry slowly and naturally, away from direct heat.

Lightweight soles
To clean our signature lightweight soles, wipe away surface dirt with a soft, damp cloth. A soft brush and a small amount of mild soap can be used on more stubborn dirt, taking care to avoid the leather upper.

Do not soak the shoes or use harsh detergents, bleach or abrasive cleaning products.

Leather soles
Leather soles naturally soften and change with wear. They can expand or become damaged when saturated, so we recommend avoiding wet conditions during the first few wears and whenever possible thereafter.

If the soles become very wet, stuff the shoes loosely with plain paper to help retain their shape and allow them to dry slowly and naturally, away from radiators, hairdryers and direct heat.

A protective rubber sole may be added by a reputable shoe repairer if the shoes will be worn regularly outdoors or in wet conditions.

A final note
Children’s shoes are made for adventures, so a few marks and signs of wear are completely natural. Regular, gentle care will help protect their materials and keep them looking lovely for longer.
